Troy Lawrence

Meet Our People – The Enduring Spirit of the Chickasaw Nation

Troy Lawrence is a more than 30-year veteran of the Fort Worth Police, serving as a sergeant and supervisor of the Digital Forensic Lab for 22 years. His secret weapon? It might be his Chickasaw heritage. "I don't like a problem I can't solve. So, I feel that's a Chickasaw trait I would be able to embody ... figuring out those problems and getting answers." Lawrence was assigned digital forensics back in 1997 "because I was the only person in the vice unit that owned a personal computer." With endless training over multiple years, Troy is now teaching techniques all over the world for the International Association for Computer Information Systems (IACIS). And under his tutelage, the Fort Worth Police digital forensics department has become cutting-edge. Disassembling phones, removing motherboards, extracting data from chips—today, they have digital evidence on almost every case. "It's simple," adds Troy, "I enjoy putting bad guys behind bars and making them accountable for their actions."
