Say "hello" to Stephanie L. Moore, Ph.D., an assistant professor in organization, information and learning sciences (OILS) at the University of New Mexico, the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Computing in Higher Education, a Fellow of Barbara Bush Foundation ... Oh, and proud Chickasaw. "You may be surprised that 54% of adults in the U.S. read below a third-grade level. The challenge is significant, and can impact personal finances, access to jobs, everything. So, I do a lot of work through the university and the Bush Foundation." Her expertise in OILS programs—as well as mobile and blended learning—helps create new opportunities that reduce barriers to access for adult learners. It's a tremendous source of gratification, as her work has received global recognition. "It means the world to me that the Chickasaw Nation recognizes that those are important, and that we're trying to make a difference in some very important spaces."
