Chris Kidd

Meet Our People – The Enduring Spirit of the Chickasaw Nation

Elected in 2016 to represent the state's 31st District, Kidd was inspired by his great grandfather, who served in both the Oklahoma State House and State Senate. "I want to follow in his footsteps," says Kidd.

When Kidd was in third grade, his grandfather took him to the spring located on their family's allotted land in central Oklahoma, where the two sat on a fallen log. There, his grandfather passed on stories of family and Chickasaw history. Interestingly, one of the very first Chickasaw Council meetings in Indian Territory was held by the spring where he sat with his grandfather, and Kidd's commitment to public service follows in the same Chickasaw tradition as his ancestors.

Kidd hopes to impart that same family wisdom that his grandfather shared with him to his own child. "Family history can disappear with time, unless someone passes that history on," he says.

A true public servant, Kidd has also worked for the Chickasaw Nation, serving on the economic development team; at BancFirst as a branch manager and was the Agricultural Education Instructor and FFA Advisor at Waurika High School.
