Costumes for Lowak Dance Troupe, Scene 2

Margaret Roach Wheeler

Margaret Wheeler shows us her costumes for the second number performed by the six couples, reflecting 18th century dress. Working from photographs she observed most women wore Victorian-style dresses. The cloth she used was authentic 18th-century prints, also using the era’s popular ribbons and jewelry; she plans to add a ribbon headdress. Men wore a Chickasaw hunting jacket and the turbans; she describes the details.
