Having learned enough about Piominko to realize the depth of his impact on America, renowned sculptor Bill Beckwith, who grew up in Greenville, Mississippi, now hopes to see this history taught in schools, particularly in Mississippi, an ancestral homeland of the Chickasaws. Beckwith's sculpture of Piominko resides in downtown Tupelo.
