Greg Pirkle is an attorney and member of the Tupelo Rotary Club who led the committee that commissioned Tupelo's statue of Mountain Leader Piominko. He describes the role Piominko played as an important diplomatic figure in Chickasaw history, Mississippi and American history. The City of Tupelo stands on a portion of what was the Chickasaw Homelands for hundreds of years before American settlers arrived.
