Award-winning contemporary artist dedicated to women in the indigenous arts

Brenda Kingery is currently the featured artist at Exhibit C, a gallery and retail space in the heart of Oklahoma City. Brenda Kingery was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, but has lived all over the world. She has studied in Okinawa, Japan, as well as the University of Oklahoma and Texas Tech University. Kingery has cultivated her skills as a painter not only through her studies, but also her teachings.

Kingery returned to Okinawa to teach painting, drawing and folk art cultures for the University of Maryland Far East Division. She later taught Art History at San Antonio College before a career as a full-time artist.

Brenda is considered a contemporary artist, and she uses the experiences she has had to influence the subject matter for her visual stories. Using her skills in design and art, she often travels abroad to help encourage women of developing countries to use their indigenous artistic skills.
