Medicine Birds

Brent Greenwood

The Ivory-billed Woodpecker is thought to be extinct, though some may have been spotted over the years in the forests of the Southeast. The woodpecker has also been spotted in Chickasaw art and carvings. Here in "Medicine Birds," artist Brent Greenwood marries those ancient carvings with a portrait of the elusive bird.
