October 2013 Show - The Roberts Family Overcomes the Oklahoma Tornadoes

Chickasaw Nation News

Oklahoma is the beloved home of many Chickasaws, and the devastating tornadoes that ripped through the state in May 2013 greatly affected the tribe. During this time of hardship, Chickasaw 1st grader, Addyson Roberts, showed a true spirit of resilience. “Addy” was in Plaza Towers Elementary School during these tragic events—one of the hardest hit structures when the tornadoes came through. Addy’s parents, Michael and Summer Roberts, describe the terrifying event and their emotional reunion with their daughter. The Roberts family, who also lost their home during the tornadoes, received an outpouring of support from the Chickasaw Nation. As they begin the process of rebuilding, the Roberts family embodies the Chickasaw spirit of determination and resilience.
