Fluent Chickasaw elders share early memories in their native language of growing up speaking Chickasaw and remember the challenges they faced during their time attending English-only schools. While today the Chickasaw Language Program is working toward revitalization and creating more fluent speakers, in this episode of Elders Speak we hear about the struggles elders faced in teaching Chickasaw to their own children decades ago.
