These prehistoric Native American mounds, which are ceremonial burial sites, overlook the Mississippi River in what was once Chickasaw Territory. It was a complex settlement of houses and mounds surrounding a central plaza. Today, a museum displays pottery and primitive tools made of stone, bone and shell.
