Cornhusk is most generally associated with old-fashioned dolls these days, but during a chance conversation with her grandmother, Lisa Billy received a history lesson that, to her, became a testament to the perseverance and grit of those who came before her. More importantly, however, it served as a reminder of the need to listen to the stories of the elders in order to preserve our history.
