Removal Route Landmarks: Little Rock to Fort Towson

Dr. Daniel Littlefield

Chickasaw Removal author Dr. Daniel Littlefield describes the 47-acre Trail of Tears Park built on the University of Arkansas Little Rock campus, which opened in Spring 2011. The south end of campus on Asher Avenue corresponds to the Old Southwest Trail used by Chickasaws en route to Fort Towson. About six miles further west is the 1830s-vintage Ten-Mile House they would have passed by.
