Native American communities are statistically at a higher risk to become type 2 diabetic. In fact, 16.1 percent of American Indians suffer from diabetes in the U.S. Dr. Judy Goforth Parker explains, while Native Americans may be predisposed to the epidemic, healthy lifestyle choices and annual exams are needed for prevention and early detection to reduce complications.
