Hiawatha Estes: Notable Architect of Post-War Ranch Homes

Unconquerable with Lisa Billy

Nephew of Chickasaw storyteller Te Ata and cousin to U.S. Congressman Tom Cole, Hiawatha Estes left his mark in neighborhoods across southern California. He was a prolific designer of the modern ranch-style home and one of the first mass marketers of home plans. Business success carried him far, but he never forgot his Chickasaw roots in Oklahoma. He is honored by the University of Oklahoma with a garden courtyard bearing his name in Catlett Music Hall.
