Chickasaw Nation News

The Oklahoma Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, in partnership with the Chickasaw Nation, is restoring a one mile stretch of the Blue River, which flows through Johnston County and provides the city of Durant with a portion of its water supply. The project will include restoration of the river's wetlands and springs, and eventually thousands of trees will be re-planted along the river's corridor. The preserve's name, "Oka' Yanali", is Chickasaw for "flowing water".
