Chickasaw Maps: Geography, Relationships and Power

Wendy St. Jean

Purdue University professor and Chickasaw historian Wendy St. Jean reflects on what she sees as a highlight of the Chickasaw Cultural Center — the 1723 Deerskin Map. Its scope is vast: over 700,000 square miles from New York to Texas, including overland routes and navigable streams.
