Working to give Native American youth the tools to lead healthier lives

Kim Mowdy is a food demonstration specialist for the Chickasaw Nation. She works in the Nutrition Services department and has been employed with the Chickasaw Nation since 2010. Kim is also an educator at the Eagle Adventure Program, which strives to improve the health and nutrition of youth who are increasingly at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Using the CDC's popular Eagle Books as a central theme and embracing traditions of Native American storytelling, the Eagle Adventure Program aims to provide youth and their families with a vision of hope that diabetes can be prevented through dietary changes and physical activity.
