He always knew his Chickasaw ancestry to be a positive aspect of his life

Born in Amarillo, Texas, and raised in upstate New York, Johnson Wagner says he grew up with an athletic family and always knew his Chickasaw ancestry to be a positive aspect of his life.

Johnson attended Virginia Tech, where he was a member of the golf team, and he turned professional in 2002. The moment he became part of the PGA Tour, he says, he experienced a lifelong dream fulfilled. He describes his first tournament win in 2008 as incredible, and his subsequent wins in 2011 and 2012 were icing on the cake.

The sport of golf, Johnson says, influences him both on and off the course in terms of being a contributing member of society and in practicing the values of integrity, honesty and respect. The blessing of being able to live out his dream every day and to play golf for a living fuels his drive and determination.
