A one-of-a-kind, Olympic-style canoe and kayak program for young Chickasaws

Sponsored by the Chickasaw Nation and founded in 2011, the Chickasaw RIVERSPORT Canoe/Kayak program is made up of a group of Chickasaw youth working toward becoming accomplished paddlers. The talented team is led by Aasim Saleh, who was named USA Canoe/Kayak Development Coach of 2010.

The one-of-a-kind program gives kids the opportunity to race in Olympic-style sprint canoe and kayak competitions. Free to Chickasaw youth, the program is coed and is open those aged 11 to 18.

The RIVERSPORT program is located on the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City, and the team trains out of the Devon Boathouse. Practices are held after school and on weekends at the Boathouse District or at the Chickasaw Nation’s Route 66 Boathouse at Lake Overholser.
