Chickasaw Nation News

A fourth segment behind the scenes of the feature film Te Ata focuses on the roles of children in the film. Lauren John and Malarie Drake, who play two of Te Ata's sisters, describe the experience of filming at the historic Chickasaw White House, home of Chickasaw Governor Douglas Johnston, in Emet. They enjoy having fun together on set and learning what a great role model the iconic storyteller was. Boriana Williams, who plays young Te Ata in the film's early scenes, says that she enjoyed being active and embodying her character's love of nature and adventure. "I think it's amazing, because I get to live the life of her," Williams adds. All of the scenes in the film were shot in Oklahoma, offering a vivid snapshot of Chickasaw Country in the early 20th century.
