The 2013 Jim Thorpe Native American Games take place at Remington Park in Oklahoma City. Participants travel from as far away as Canada to represent their tribes. Chickasaw youth, Landon Swope, shares his pride in all of the participants and in himself. He speaks of the honor he feels representing the Chickasaw Nation. Governor Anoatubby is a featured guest in the opening ceremony as well as Bill Thorpe — Jim Thorpe’s son. Chickasaw athlete, Ezra Johnson, shares his admiration for Jim Thorpe and the inspiration Mr. Thorpe’s story has given him to defend his first place title in Martial Arts. Governor Anoatubby reminds us that the competition is not only about sports, but also about what’s inside and recognizing all that one can accomplish.
