August 1, 2015 - The Artesian Hotel Phonograph

Chickasaw Nation News

The modern luxury and grandeur of the Artesian Hotel attracts thousands to Sulphur, Oklahoma, but a classic piece of history from the original Artesian hotel has become a new focal point for visitors. An early 1900s hand-crank Edison phonograph that played in the original Artesian Hotel from 1922 to 1955 has made its way back home. Over 60 years ago, it was donated by the original owner to a friend. Before the owner of the phonograph passed away, he decided that he wanted it to be returned to the new Artesian Hotel. The phonograph was kept in nearly perfect condition all these years and is now on display in the Artesian Hotel lobby.
