Chickasaw Nation News

In this episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran report that Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby and other state leaders attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new boat dock on Lake Murray. The project, which was partially funded by the Chickasaw Nation, is designed to promote tourism by providing easy water access to the Lake Murray State Park facilities. In addition to the dock, this initiative provided for a new pool and splash pad. A wide range of summer camp offerings are available to give Chickasaw children important opportunities to learn and socialize. Environmental Camp teaches kids about respecting nature through activities relating to gardening, farming and ecology. Camp Survivor, for children ages 9 to 13, promotes physical and mental wellness through a focus on teamwork and sportsmanship. And Cultural Camp celebrates Chickasaw heritage through traditional art forms such as stomp dancing. A final segment features the art of Chickasaw elder and knifemaker Daniel Worcester, who forges his creative masterpieces along with discarded materials that he repurposes.
