Chickasaw Nation News

In the March 1, 2017 episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran take us first to the Chickasaw Cultural Center to see a new exhibit featuring handmade quilts, some of which are family heirlooms. Chickasaw elder Nancy Bradshaw, for example, says that each of her quilts tells a story. Preferring hand-sewing over sewing machines, Nancy painstakingly creates her impressive quilts with a mere needle and thread. Nancy says each quilt holds a piece of her soul, and in 20 years, her children and grandchildren will be able to remember her through her craft. Also at the Chickasaw Cultural Center this month, the Three Sisters Spring Celebration returns March 13-19. Enjoy horticultural tours, bask in the butterfly gardens, practice archery and stickball and much more. And it’s never too early to start thinking about summer youth camps and academies!
