Chickasaw Nation News

In 2017's second episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran take us back to the Okchamali Café at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center to talk to two dieticians about setting healthy goals. They recommend having a friend who can keep you accountable (and vice versa), both in terms of your exercise routine and in terms of your eating habits; keeping a food diary is another great tip. Next, we visit the Chickasaw Nation Child Development Center to meet Sarah Hayes, a Chickasaw citizen who was recently recognized for her important work as child passenger safety technician and instructor. Brad and Quin also introduce us to Larry Carter, a Chickasaw man who discovered his passion for art a little later in life. Larry uses palette knives to create his masterpieces, a method he says adds an incredible amount of texture and depth. Another hallmark of his work is that he likes to place hidden native images within his paintings as a way to get people to look closely at his work and see the possibilities.
