Chickasaw Nation News

In this episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran take us first to Kullihoma for Chikasha Ittifama, the annual Chickasaw reunion that was held last month. People of all ages participated in cultural activities, ate traditional food and came together to celebrate their shared heritage. Then, we travel to Sulphur for a quick look at the annual Artesian Arts Festival held on Memorial Day weekend. The festival features more than 100 Native American artists, live performances, food and family fun. Next, we meet Connor Hicks, a young Chickasaw studying guitar performance at ACM@UCO in Oklahoma City and released an EP, "Savior," in 2016. Kaleb Ogle, another young Chickasaw, just graduated from Oklahoma City University (OCU) and is the first recipient of the Chickasaw Nation and Meinders School of Business scholarship, which offers full tuition for all four years at OCU. Kaleb is the first in his family to receive a college degree, and says he hopes to either be a physical therapist or a nurse and open his own practice. In other news, Bank 2, a Chickasaw-owned community bank, is now listed in the top 15 percent of all banks in the country based on its performance in 2016.
