Chickasaw Nation News

In the latest episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran introduce us to Eric Smith, a Chickasaw bow maker whose work was most recently featured in the three-time Academy Award-winning film "The Revenant." The filmmakers approached Eric because they wanted the props in the movie to be historically accurate and truly usable; he and his apprentice ended up creating 35 bows and 300 arrows in just three weeks. Eric says he is incredibly proud to represent the Chickasaw Nation in such a unique way. Next, we travel to Sulphur for the Three Sisters Celebration at the Chickasaw Cultural Center, one of its biggest and most popular annual events. Thousands of families from across Oklahoma and surrounding states traveled to the Cultural Center during spring break for the festival. Chickasaw artist Brenda Kingery recently honored the Three Sisters by designing an exclusive Pendleton blanket, which can be purchased at the Cultural Center. And mark your calendars now for the Dynamic Women of the Chickasaw Nation Conference & Forum; the event will be held April 14-15 at The Artesian Hotel.
