Chickasaw Nation News

In this latest episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran introduce us to a Chickasaw scientist working to help native communities prepare for those typical Oklahoma weather changes. April Taylor, a Chickasaw sustainability scientist, is part of the South-Central Climate Science Center at the University of Oklahoma. April is specifically studying the characteristics of droughts to influence a water plan for both the Chickasaw Nation and the state as a whole. Next we travel to Sulphur, where the Chickasaw Nation's Horticulture Department is preparing milkweed for monarch butterflies that migrate through Chickasaw Country. The seeds will be planted at the new Butterfly Garden at the Chickasaw Cultural Center. And for those who've made a New Year's resolution to get fit and healthy, the Chickasaw Nation Wellness Centers act as great sources of motivation and support. The Centers, located in Ada, Ardmore and Tishomingo (and one under construction in Purcell), feature the latest workout equipment, fitness classes, heated pools and more.
