Brad Clonch and Quin Tran take us first to the Chickasaw Cultural Center for an annual event celebrating Chickasaw horticultural tradition. The Three Sisters Spring Celebration ushers in the coming of spring and recognizes the staples of corn, beans and squash, which together are known as the Three Sisters. The three crops are grown through a method known as companion planting, which means they grow together and thrive off each other. The event features living culture demonstrations, games and all sorts of other activities for both adults and children. Next, we travel to Ada for the seventh annual Te Ata Fisher Chickasaw Nation Employee Art Show. Submissions were received from 41 different artists, and awards were also handed out. The work of one Chickasaw artist, Dustin Mater, will be on display at a Paris art gallery beginning in June. The Orenda Art International Gallery commissioned Dustin to recreate two of his original pieces carved from shells.
