Chickasaw Nation News

In this episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran take us to Ada, Oklahoma, where the Chickasaw Nation has breathed new life into a decades-old facility. The renovated Carl Albert Service Center now helps citizens seeking employment assistance, career development, employee training and other services. It also houses a WIC center and a new Bedré Café. Next, we travel to San Francisco, where the Chickasaw Nation’s documentary film, “First Encounter,” was screened in November during the American Indian Film Institute’s 40th annual festival. Back in Chickasaw Country, the holiday spirit is in full swing. Visit Chickasaw.net for the latest schedule of events. At the Artesian Hotel in particular, ornaments, tinsel and lights adorn practically every corner. When you walk through the front entrance, be sure to note the beautiful piece of etched glass depicting the original Artesian in the early 20th century. What appears to be a framed photograph is actually a single piece of glass. Oklahoma artist Tim Brown created the piece using an incredibly fine sand in a special technique that takes great time and patience.
