In this episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran give viewers a tour of the luxurious new Artesian Hotel, which will open its doors on Aug. 2 in Sulphur, Okla. The Chickasaw Nation hosted a recent Inter-Tribal council meeting at the new Artesian Hotel to collaborate and discuss tribal issues. The Artesian Hotel isn't the only Chickasaw tourism development making headlines in Oklahoma. The Chickasaw Travel Stop opened recently in Davis, Okla., as part of a countywide effort to promote tourism. The convenience store and gas station is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and boasts a 10,000 square feet design featuring indigenous materials. The Chikasha House has also recently opened in Ada, Okla., at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center campus to provide a comfortable place to stay for family members of patients experiencing extended hospital treatments. CNTV also takes a look at the multitude of opportunities available for Chickasaw youth to stay active this summer. A variety camps are available for youth in a wide array of interests and activities including the Chickasaw National Language Emersion family camp, Chikashsha Saya ("I am Chickasaw") camp, Camp Survivor, Oklahoma Business week Camp, environmental camps and Youth Leadership Oklahoma. In Oklahoma City, Chickasaw citizens came together recently to enjoy music and art at a summer picnic on the Oklahoma River held by the Oklahoma City Metro Community Council. This past month, Chickasaws have also been recognized and honored for notable accomplishments. The Chickasaw Nation was featured as the "Best Company to Work For" in the July 2013 issue of Oklahoma Magazine. In addition, a Chickasaw Press publication, Chickasaw Lives, Volume 4: Tribal Mosaic, also earned an Independent Publishers Book award in the Midwest Regional Non-Fiction category. Finally, the 2013 Chickasaw Nation Heritage Preservation Awards are currently accepting nominations along with the new White Dog Press Awards.
