Chickasaw Nation News

In this episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran take us to the new Chickasaw Softball Complex in Ada, Oklahoma. The complex is complete with multiple fields, a concessions building, several playgrounds, a warming area, and a basketball court. Softball isn’t the only sport making headlines this month; Chickasaw Andrew Green shares his dedication to golf and his pursuit of playing professionally. Golf is also a popular sport with Chickasaw youth who are participating in the annual summer golf camp at the Winstar Golf Academy located in Thackerville, Oklahoma. Chickasaw seniors also participate this summer in the first ever Senior Golf Academy that is also being offered at the Winstar Golf facilities. There are other summer sports programs organized by the Chickasaws, including the summer youth tennis camps. Chickasaw summer camps are not limited to sports. In fact, one favorite of Chickasaw youth is the CNASA camp where participants can learn about space and conduct interesting science experiments. Finally, the Chickasaw Cultural Center hosts a screening of the film A Cherokee Word for Water about Cherokee Wilma Mankiller — the first modern female chief of her tribe.
