Chickasaw Nation News

On this episode of CNTV News, Quin Tran and Brad Clonch take us to the 2013 Chickasaw Hall of Fame induction ceremony, where five accomplished and deserving Chickasaws earned the distinction that places them in the Chickasaw Honor Garden. All five honorees have played notable roles in benefitting the tribe, from preserving Chickasaw archives to standing out as leaders in uniform. Also in this episode, Governor Bill Anoatubby is recognized by the Oklahoma Historians Hall of Fame. Many projects developed by the tribe under his leadership play a major role in preserving Chickasaw and Oklahoma history. Plus, the Chickasaw Nation is raising awareness for environmental protection. This year, an annual recycling event attracted a major turn out at the ReUse center in Ada, Oklahoma. Crews collected and shredded more than fifteen tons of collected paper materials. And this week in history, we remember a turning point in Chickasaw history — The Battle of Ackia — and the difference it made in the story of the Chickasaw people and our country.
