Chickasaw Nation News

To begin this episode of CNTV News, the Chickasaw Nation breaks ground for two new housing projects. The first development is on the healthcare campus in Ada, Oklahoma, providing apartments and duplex homes for medical students and healthcare professionals. The Chickasaw Nation already hosts a successful residency program, but as convenient and affordable housing becomes more readily available, this program will continue to grow and help improve the overall healthcare system.

The second groundbreaking ceremony is for the Chuka Lokoli transitional housing community. Here, Chickasaw citizens in need of long-term or short-term housing will find a welcoming neighborhood, community garden, playgrounds and more. The community will also offer services including therapy, access to food and clothing, pre-employment and life skills training as well as opportunities for cultural connection. "[There are] a lot of situations that we could describe where people are left without a place to live, without an income," says Governor Anoatubby. "We want to be there to help them through the difficult time."

Next in the episode, the annual Smoke & Guns charity event features three Chickasaw Lighthorse Police officers. Sgt. Dillon Dolezal, Sgt. Kaelee Langley and officer Kyler Truett each competed in the MMA fundraiser to raise money for the Oklahoma Firefighters Burn Camp and the Special Olympics of Oklahoma. In Smoke & Guns' first year of featuring women in the ring, Sgt. Kaelee Langley beat her opponent in just 30 seconds. "I think it's important to go out and show little girls that they're able to accomplish anything that they set their minds to," Kaelee says. While male firefighters and police officers have historically been the face of Smoke & Guns, Kaelee is proud to represent women in law enforcement. "To be able to go out there with another female and just show these little girls that the world is theirs and that the possibilities are endless means so much to me," she says.
