Chickasaw Nation News

In this episode, hosts Brad Clonch and Quin Tran explore archival CNTV News footage of rising star and Chickasaw golfer Peyton "Beans" Factor as she begins a new chapter in her sports career.

With a host of titles and top finishes under her belt, the Sequoyah High School graduate is the Class A Oklahoma Girls Individual State Champion – and that's just the beginning.

"God has a plan for this child and we're just here ... we're just the chauffers," Beans' mother, Sara Factor, recognized even from an early age. When Beans was just six weeks old, a tumor began spreading to her larynx – from which she made a full recovery.

Today, Beans has her ambitions set on Manhattan University in New York, where she'll undoubtedly apply the honesty, character and integrity she picked up playing disciplined golf games as a child.

"I know I always have a home here in Oklahoma," Beans adds.

Coming soon, you'll meet another Chickasaw teenager making headlines for success in sports. Fifteen-year-old Jadyce Burns is the fastest Lady Cougar in Ada High School history, completing the 100-meter dash in just 12.28 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 25.35 seconds.

Chickasaw citizen Terry Swopes was recently named Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations following double state championships for 4A girls and boys teams in the 2023-2024 season.

Preparations for the Chickasaw Annual Meeting and Festival have begun for the Sept. 26 event. As the largest gathering of the year, there are festivities throughout the week leading up to Governor Bill Anoatubby's State of the Nation address – set for Oct. 4 at 9 a.m. in Tishomingo.
