Chickasaw Nation News

Brad and Quin begin this episode of CNTV News in conversation with poet Ibe Liebenberg. Ibe's poetry collection, Birds at Night, draws on his varied life experiences, from firefighting in California to family dynamics and his Chickasaw identity as a citizen-at-large. The award-winning poet describes poetry as "little glimpses of moments," and reads aloud one of his published poems. Birds at Night is available in store and online, including at Barnes and Noble, Target and Amazon.

Next in the episode, another Chickasaw writer shares his latest work. Out of hundreds of submissions, Brian Johnson's screenplay The Pioneer is in the running to win the Kinolime Screenplay Award. The script is based on the true story of Yakima Canutt, a stuntman in the early days of Hollywood who helped revolutionize the field of stunt performance. Visit Kinolime.com to cast your vote in the first round of this year's competition.
