Chickasaw Nation News

In this episode of CNTV News, Brad and Quin meet with Chickasaw author and dietician Gabriel Cannon. His book, Brave Little Anoli, follows Anoli's journey through the forest as she connects with Chickasaw culture and learns about the importance of good health. While the book's focus is educating children about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, Cannon hopes the main takeaway is "character and doing the right thing — even when it's scary." Find Brave Little Anoli and a diverse range of titles at ChickasawPress.com.

Next in the episode, Brad and Quin take us to Kingston, where the Chickasaw Children's Village has been nurturing the social, spiritual and personal development of students for 20 years. Participants in 1st-12th grade live in cottage-style housing with house parents, creating a unique family environment. "It's really a special place. We help our young people to make it through life ... and to help them have a good quality of life," says Governor Bill Anoatubby. All First American children are welcome in the village and applications are open year-round.

With thousands of attendees and more than 140 First American artists, the 11th annual Artesian Arts Festival was a success! Not only did the event bring a variety of artworks to Sulphur, but it also included cultural dancers, live music and a dozen food vendors. We look forward to next year’s festival!
