One of the exhibit's featured artists is Chickasaw citizen and elder Mary Wilds, who creates textiles such as one-of-a-kind quilts, clothing and other pieces to tell stories about Chickasaw culture and her family history. After a 35-year career as a special education teacher, she returned to Oklahoma to reconnect with her native heritage. Mary will be teaching textile art classes to the public in the coming months, which will be held at the ARTesian Gallery & Studios in Sulphur.
