Chickasaw Nation News

In this edition of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran report from the Holisso Research Center at the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur, a 20,000-square-foot specialty library focusing on the study of the Chickasaw Nation and other tribes in the southeastern U.S. Brad and Quin introduce us to Chickasaw elder Carolee Maxwell. Carolee has been keeping a record of her family history and treasures the photos and stories passed down from generation to generation. She also urges young people to research their own family histories and emphasizes the importance of the Chickasaw family. Next, Brad and Quin take us to a ribbon-cutting ceremony dedicating the new Chickasaw Nation Transportation Services Facility in Ada, highlight the Artesian Arts Festival that took place over Memorial Day weekend and visit the Chickasaw Nation Early Childhood Program graduation ceremony. In closing, they share a special preview of the new book, "Chula the Fox." Written by Chickasaw citizen Antony Perry, the middle grade historical novel is set in the Chickasaw Homeland and was recently awarded the Gold Benjamin Franklin Award from the Independent Book Publishers Association.
