A variety of programs such as camps, clubs and classes exists to help Chickasaws of all ages learn the ancestral language. By fusing learning with excitement, these programs increase retention and spark a passion for sharing the language with others.
The Chickasaw Nation Chipota Chikashshanompoli (children speaking Chickasaw) language club received first place in several categories at the ninth annual Oklahoma Native American Youth Language Fair held at the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History in Norman. The theme for this year's competition was "Elder Voices, Youth Choices," and representatives from 20 different tribes took part in the competition.
