Chickasaw "Hatchet Women" Attack, Singing

Protecting their land and way of life from the French, Chickasaw women joined the battle during the attack on Ogoula Tchetoka. These "Hatchet Women" sang war songs while wielding iron hatchets alongside men and children, and ultimately sent all but the French army officers into retreat.
