Memorializing a great Chickasaw leader with a new monument

For more than 170 years legend had it that the Great Chickasaw Leader Tishominko once lived in the community of Bethany, Lee County Mississippi. With the cooperation of historians, scholars and local residents, Mitch Caver found the original 1836 land deed to Tishominko's home site. With the current land owner's permission, the Chickasaw Nation erected a monument to Tishominko and dedicated it on June 6, 2009.
