Chickasaw Nation News

In this episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran review the celebration of five new inductees to the Chickasaw Nation Hall of Fame. These were Jerry Brown, who served in the Women's Army Auxilary Corps during World War II; the late Chickasaw Nation Lt. Gov. Kennedy W. Brown; renowned accounting professor Dr. William R. Kinney Jr.; the late Chickasaw Nation Legislator Lila Dean McManus; and engineering and computing expert Joe F. Moore. Governor Bill Anoatubby said of the five inductees, "Each of these individuals followed their own calling in life. Each of these individuals made a commitment to excellence." In other news, Chickasaw families gathered in Kullihoma for Chikasha Ittifama, the annual two-day Chickasaw reunion. This event allows extended families to get together for activities, games, crafts and traditional meals while making new friends. Another important event was the Artesian Arts Festival in Sulphur, which has become one of the fastest-growing Native American arts markets in the nation. The festival drew huge crowds on Memorial Day weekend and showcased the works of over one hundred artists.
