March 15, 2014 - Wicked Courage

Chickasaw Nation News

Chickasaw citizen Andrew Smith's horse, Wicked Courage, was on a winning streak – the American quarter horse raced and finished first for 11 straight months. Though he was already named when purchased, Smith says the name fits his racing star, as Wicked Courage was a "handful to break." Once broken, though, the horse's speed and ability were evident, and in 2013 he almost won the Triple Crown, which in quarter horse racing includes the Kansas Futurity, the Rainbow Futurity, and the All-American Futurity, all at Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico. Recovering after knee surgery, Wicked Courage is currently resting at a rehabilitation center in Tishomingo, where he trains. His first race back will be at Remington Park in Oklahoma City later this month.
