Dreams are free but a quality education to achieve those dreams can cost a bundle. That's why the Chickasaw Nation wants to help its citizens reach their full potential with grants, scholarships and incentives. Programs are available for all age groups.
Emphasizing the importance of literacy, the Chickasaw Reading Program sends children one book a month until they reach the age of five, helping them form a mini library all their own. The books kids receive through the program may focus on letters and numbers or social skills and, when possible, incorporate Chickasaw culture. All materials are pre-selected for the child’s age and developmental level. The program helps kids associate reading with excitement and ensures that children are acquainted with books even before they start school – they already know how to hold a book, know which way the letters are going and are familiar with story structures.
