From the early 18th century until the Revolutionary War, Chickasaw warriors served a unique role as frontier guardsmen, controlling countless threats along the southern frontier. Historians write that “the Chickasaws were one of the more powerful southeastern Indian nations” and acted as pivotal peacekeepers in colonial South Carolina and Georgia.
