Chickasaw Nation News

In this episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran announce that students from the Chickasaw Nation STEM Academy have taken first place in the Oklahoma Regional Robotics Competition, coming out ahead of teams from five states and Mexico. The Metal Mayhem team of 11 students is now on their way to Houston, Texas for the world competition. Chickasaw citizens now have the option to visit a doctor without leaving the home or office, through the Virtual Medical Visits program. By downloading an app, patients can interact with a doctor through a video chat and are contacted two days later by a nurse to find out how their recovery is progressing. In order to use the service, patients must live in Oklahoma and have an active chart at any Chickasaw Nation Department of Health facility. For information on the program, call 866-610-7776 or visit www.Chickasaw.net/VirtualVisit. The Choctaw Hymns app, developed by the Chickasaw Nation through the Chickasaw Press and in cooperation with the Choctaw Nation, features the songs that have become an important part of church services for both nations. The app is available for Apple and Android devices through the Apple Store, Google Store and Amazon. The Chickasaw Nation has launched a new modern rock station in Ada, 102.3 FM "Pirate Radio," with a heavy emphasis on music and no DJs. Finally, we get another behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the feature film Te Ata, this one focused on interviews with cast members Cindy Pickett (an Oklahoma native), Gil Birmingham, Mackenzie Astin and Q'Orianka Kilcher. This Chickasaw Nation Production was filmed exclusively in Oklahoma and features many local landmarks and faces.
