Chickasaw Nation News

In this episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran first discuss the importance of heart health in celebration of Heart Health Awareness Month. Because early screening and treatment are key to fighting cardiovascular disease, Chickasaw Nation health professionals recommend getting an annual physical exam. If a heart emergency does occur, CPR can keep blood circulating until first responders arrive. CPR training is available for citizens who are not health care professionals. To learn more about CPR and first aid training, please call (580) 310-9661, extension 83276. Next, we meet Chickasaw twin sisters who are helping the homeless stay warm in the cold winter weather. Maddie and Morgan Manning founded the Bundle Up Club when they were just 13 years old after seeing a homeless man on the highway. Their non-profit organization encourages volunteers to make handmade items such as blankets, hats and scarves. Over the past three years the twins have produced and collected more than 1,700 handmade items. "You learn to be grateful for everything you have because some people don't have everything you have," says Maddie. "So, you learn to appreciate everything in general when you see how happy they get when they receive a blanket and haven't had one before." This episode wraps up with details about the 2018 Chickasaw Nation Employee Variety Showcase, which will take place April 17 at 6:30 pm at the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center in Ada.
