Chickasaw Nation News

In this episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran appear on location at the Veterans Lodge, opened last year by the Chickasaw Nation in Ada. Designed as a gathering place where all veterans can feel welcome, the facility also allows them to receive counseling and learn about services that are available to them. Chickasaw veteran Jessica Conley explains how the center supports those who have served and upholds the Chickasaw warrior spirit. The Chickasaw Nation also offers programs like its Veterans' Conference and the Chickasaw Warrior Society; visit Chickasaw.net to find out more about these services. Governor Bill Anoatubby presided as the Chickasaw Nation broke ground on a new gym that will serve as part of the tribe's Ardmore campus, covering over 15,000 square feet. There was also a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Sulphur for a new Head Start facility, which will serve 80 children ages 3 and 4. The Head Start program helps to prepare kids for the rest of their educational experience and reflects an investment in the future leaders of the tribe. The Chickasaw Nation runs early childhood development programs in Ada, Ardmore, Sulphur and Tishomingo. Finally, the next Veterans' Celebration will take place November 10-11 at the Chickasaw Cultural Center, with free admission for veterans and active military.
